About

Heeeello to anyone that has magically, by magically I mean through the power that is the internet, come across this blog.
I'm starting this with the intention to provide product reviews and swatches to anyone looking for them. Nothing irritates me more when there aren't swatches of some product I'm looking into and I have to go in and buy it with the hope that it's not complete rubbish. Hopefully I can alleviate some of that stress for you people. Enjoy!

Revlon: Moon Drops Lipstick in Peach Silk (704)

The Breakdown
Brand- Revlon

Color-  Peach Silk (704)

Packaging- Shiny green tube that is sure to catch your eye

Thoughts- Peach Silk is a creme lipstick that feels very moisturizing and comfortable to wear for hours on end. It truly does moisturize your lips and glides on like a dream. Though a creme color, it doesn't settle as a milky creme, rather it has a lovely brightness that is a pleasant departure from other creme lipsticks.

I can squeeze about 4-5 hours out of this lipstick even with the addition of lunch and a few drinks, which is surprising since other lip products that are as moisturizing rarely last as long. This is likely due to the fact that you can turn it into a slight lipstain by massaging it into your lips.

Overall- I love this lipstick and tend to wear it in the Spring/Summer when I feel like being bright. It feels amazingly comfortable and I love the way it looks against my skin tone.

Revlon: Super Lustrous Matte Lipstick in Smoked Peach (07)

The Breakdown
Brand-Revlon

Color- Smoked Peach (07)

Packaging- Matte lipstick tube with a silver label

Thoughts- Smoke Peach has a very small peach-pink micro-shimmer running through, so small that it's almost invisible. I've found that of all the Revlon Matte lipstick I own, this is my least favorite. The color itself is very milky and the finish when swatched is very chalky in appearance. The chalkiness highlights the imperfections in the lip and prevent it from applying evenly. However, this is wearable when paired with any gloss as the chalkiness then disappears.

Overall- I find that it's a little too chalky for the natural texture of my lips but I love the staying power and the combination of it with Revlon's Superlustrous Lipgloss in Coral Reef.

Star Rating- 3/5

Revlon: PhotoReady Makeup in 008 Golden Beige

The Breakdown
Brand- Revlon

Color- PhotoReady Makeup in 008 Golden Beige

Packaging- A glass container with the all too important pump. Be careful though, a full pump will disperse far too much product, even for a round face like mine.

Thoughts- I think this product is falls into the love/hate category. Some people love it and others hate it. Unfortunately, there is no way of knowing which one you are without trying it for yourself.

I used the Temptalia Foundation Matrix coupled with an online review I found, I can't for the life of me find the blog I used, to pick out the right color. Unfortunately, things did not turn out as I would have hoped. I did notice that the numbering in the color system was a bit weird (high numbers do not always mean a darker color), but there was a fair mix of pink, neutral and yellow based shades.

The foundation applies quite easily and you don't need very much to get a really good level of coverage. You can continue to layer it to achieve full coverage, but I found that it looks more and more porcelain and fake as the layers are schlepped on.

In terms of how it sets, the foundation itself settles to a nice satin finish. It is not dewy nor is it supremely matte. It is a very nice natural finish. It does, however, have a good bit of shimmer running through it. I thought previous bloggers and reviewers were exaggerating, but there is so much shimmer in such large chunks that they catch the light in photos and are visible from as little as a foot away in real life.

Overall- I must admit that I do not wear this on its own. Frankly, I picked out the wrong color (it was waay to light/porcelain) and the sparkles, while in essence a good idea, just did not work for me at all. Of course, I fell bad not using it and seeing as I can't return it, I'm mixing the smallest amount in with my Neutrogena Healthy Skin just to make the finish a tad less dewy.

Star Rating- 3/5... I love the finish, though the trial of color matching and the sparkles put me off.

Revlon: Colorstay Quad in Copper Spice (01)

The Breakdown

Brand-Revlon

Color-Colorstay 12 Hour Eye Shadow-Copper Spice (01)

Packaging- Sturdy black plastic with a clear window, comes with two sponge tip applicators

Thoughts-I bought this because I realized that I didn't want to wear BE Gal Pal with my ruby red commencement dress. So the day before I ran out to Target, saw this and took advantage of the sale price as well as an instant $1 off sticker.

I have to say that I love Revlon's Colorstay line. From the lipglosses, to the shadows and eyeliners, I love them all. what I like most is that they are such high quality products and completely worth the money, so long as you pick ones according to your skin color.

So, clearly this is a quad of complimentary colors. The first is a creamy beige, the second is a pale pink, the third is a cinnamon-y brown and the last is a dark ashy brown. They are all very smooth shadows with a slight sheen and no shimmer to speak of. When combined, they really do compliment each other, unlike some of the other quads I've seen.

Overall- If you haven't figured it out already, I love this quad. It's great because it can give a no fuss natural smoky eye AND has three great single shadow day eyes. I reach for the beige or the pink when I want to have one of those simple subtle shadow + black/dramatic liner days. The cinnamon-y one is great too as an all over lid color for shadow+mascara evenings. The darkest one has been relegated to shadow liner/outer V duty.

Star Rating- 5/5, This was a great buy, as soon as I come across another one with colors that I like I'll pick it up in a heart beat.
